The Holly Pines StoryBy: Kinsey Fennig It all began on a peaceful farm in the heart of Indiana, where a close family of six worked together under the leadership of "the master of innovation", my father. Dad was born to be a farmer, working the soil with my grandpa since he was too small to see over the steering wheel of a combine. Our family has grown soybeans for several generations, but with foresight, Mom and Dad knew that farming wouldn't be enough to supply a college education for their four children. Not wanting to stray too far from their roots, they decided to start a Christmas tree farm. We call it Holly Pines, a place of quality Christmas trees, but more importantly incredible service. My father got the notion of developing a new soybean candle to sell in our Holly Shop. As the Christmas season began, they sold as fast as we could pour them and we knew we had a great product. We were still dissatisfied with the appearance of the candles and this is the area that used my talents the most. We looked for months to find the perfect jars, ribbons, and tags to display the country elegance that these beautiful candles now possess. |
